M3U vs Xtream Codes in IBO Ultra Pro: the differences and which to use
An M3U playlist is a single link, and an Xtream Codes login is a server URL with a username and password. In IBO Ultra Pro, an M3U link opens in the Live section only, while an Xtream Codes login also fills Movies and Series.
This page covers the IBO Ultra Pro TV app on Android TV, Android TV boxes and Fire TV.
The differences at a glance
| M3U link | Xtream Codes login | |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter | One link (URL) | A server URL, a username and a password |
| Sections in the TV app | Live | Live, Movies and Series |
| Check when you save it on the website | Refused only if the link's server answers with an error | Checked with your provider's server when it answers: server URL, username, password and account status |
How IBO Ultra Pro uses an M3U link
An M3U link points to a playlist file on your provider's server. The TV app downloads that file and lists its channels in the Live section. The app plays HLS (.m3u8) streams.
How IBO Ultra Pro uses an Xtream Codes login
With an Xtream Codes login, the TV app asks your provider's server for its Live channels, Movies and Series, with their categories. Before it saves the login, the website checks it with that server when the server answers. Read why the website refuses an Xtream Codes account.
Which one to use
Use the type your playlist provider gives you. If your provider can give you both, an Xtream Codes login lets the app fill Movies and Series as well as Live. Either way, you add a playlist you are authorized to use.
Next: add your playlist
Sign in on this website with the MAC address shown on your TV, then add the playlist your provider gave you.
If it doesn't load, read fixes for an M3U playlist that stays empty.
